KITING ON HAYLING ISLAND

Hayling Island is a very popular spot not only because of the outstanding riding conditions but because of its quick accessibility. It is only 5 minutes from the A27 between Southampton and Brighton and the same distance from the A3, a straight short drive from London. It is because of this we get a lot of riders from around the area including many from London.

There are also frequent buses and trains into the area, so please check with each service for more details.

There are two suitable locations for kitesurfing depending on skill and requirements (see details to the right). The map below gives you a general idea of where the kite spot is.

HAYLING KITESURFING ASSOCIATION BEACH DIRECTIONS

To get to the HKA/Council beach, simply follow the A3023 towards West Town. Follow until very end, You will see a fun fair right in front of you. At Mini roundabout take 1st exit. Follow for 1/2 a mile until you see a turning for a carpark on your right. Pull in here and you will see the HKA sign. The GPS co-oordinates are 50.784808, -0.984632. The postcode is PO11 9HR. You can punch either of these details into google / apple maps and it'll bring you straight here. IMPORTANTMembership of HKA provides access to HKA beach only.

CBK HAYLING ISLAND BEACH DIRECTIONS

To get to the CBK Hayling Island beach, simply follow the A3023 towards West Town. Follow until the very end, where you will see a fun fair right in front of you. At Mini roundabout take 3rd exit. Follow until sign for Beachlands. Turn Left and follow to the end of the road, where a CBK Hayling Island sign will be visible. IMPORTANT: You must join the CBK Hayling Island Club to launch or land on West Beach.

HKA CLUB BEACH

The HKA club beach is located East of the funfair just off the seafront road. It is a large shingle beach with very close parking making it ideal for just getting out and riding. We get frequent swell to have fun in and is a popular spot for intermediate to expert riders.

There is no charge to ride at this beach but we do require third party kitesurfing insurance! If you do ride here and wish to support this location and the club then please feel free to sign up to the HKA by clicking here. If you are an experienced kitesurfer then there is no membership requirement at the Council beach but insurance is an absolute requirement.

CBK HAYLING ISLAND CLUB BEACH

The CBK Hayling Island Club beach (West Beach) is located at the western most point of Hayling Island, where the East Winner Sandbar is located - a 1 mile long sandbar jutting out into the solent. This creates large lagoons of flat, shallow water which are perfect riding and learning conditions.

West Beach is a privately owned beach and in order to kite there you will be required to be a member of CBK Hayling Island Kitesurf Club (http://www.cbk-haylingisland.com/club/). HKA membership does not entitle you to kite at West Beach, only at HKA Beach.

CBK Hayling Island also runs a kitesurfing school from this location. Information relating to CBK Hayling Island Club or CBK Hayling Island Kitesurfing school can be found at www.cbk-haylingisland.com’.
