This is a privately owned beach and is the only location on Hayling Island where
kitesurfing is permitted. The HKA pays for a licence to allow kitesurfing
which can only take place under the governance of the club and its Committee.
All riders, without exception, must join the HKA.
If you do not want to join the HKA you must not kitesurf at this location.

The revenue generated from membership fees is used to pay the annual
licence fee (charged by the beach owner for the use of kitesurfing on their property).
It is also used to purchase the HKA rash vests which must be worn when
kitesurfing at Hayling. We also need to cover running costs (website
hosting fee), purchases of safety equipment (flags, jackets etc) and a small
amount is allocated for club social events.

The HKA is an affiliated BKSA club therefore we only accept BKSA insurance. On joining the HKA each rider must provide their BKSA number. If at any
time your BKSA insurance expires, your HKA membership automatically expires.

Affiliation to the BKSA means the HKA and its committee members are
covered under the BKSA insurance policy. We also recieve a rebate
from the BKSA for each rider who joins them as a result of joining us.
This provides useful additional revenue. Currently the BKSA is the
most mature organistion, representing UK kitesurfing, and most likely to achieve
national recognition. The HKA believes supporting the BKSA is in the best
interest of national recognition and development of kitesurfing in the UK.

We have stopped the BKSA from selling our memberships as their payment system was completely separate from our own system. This allowed riders to pay to join us but not register with us. We therefore could not properly manage the membership or comply with the terms of the licence.

We do not issue any membership card.

The issuing of BKSA membership cards is the responsibility
of the BKSA. Please contact them.

Yes. The beach patrol conduct frequent checks of riders on the beach and members should be asking those they don't recognise for proof of membership before they launch them.

You can prove you are a current HKA member by producing the HKA Certificate of Membership Status.
Click here to request yours. This will be emailed to you,
print it out, put it in a waterproof bag and keep it in your kitebag.
Please keep your proof of membership in your kitebag (not in your car).
NOTE: The harness tag issued by the BKSA is NOT proof of HKA membership.
Wearing a HKA rash vest is not proof of current membership either.

The beach patrol are members of the HKA committee who volunteer to check memberships. We ask that all members assist them and also that if you don't recognise someone on the beach, you ask them for proof of membership. Remember, you have paid to use the beach, have they or are you subsidising them?

We do not post rash vests. It can usually be collected from the beach or from Ocean Addiction (see Useful Links).

Please ask them for proof of membership. Point out this is a private beach. DO NOT launch anyone who is not wearing a current HKA rash vest.
